Enjoy the ride on Soul Train – A Tribute to Don Cornelius! :-) Today we remember Grammy Award-winning singer Jamsetta Hawkins(January 25, 1938 – January 20, 2012), better known to us as Etta James. Etta James was discovered as a teenager by musician Johnny Otis while she was a member of a singing girl group called The Creolettes. She scored her first hit “Dance with Me Henry” in 1955. She is also best known for hits “At Last ,” “Tell Mama,” and “Something’s Got a Hold on Me.” Her musical style was a mix of R&B, jazz, and gospel.
