Good Morning. The Bible reminds us that are two things that we must do before we can receive forgiveness. Firstly we must confess our sins. The Bible says that when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleans us from all unrighteousness. Secondly, we must forgive those who trespass against us. In Mark 11:25, 26, Jesus said, “25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” It makes no sense for us to pray to the Lord for forgiveness if we have not met these two conditions. We cannot expect God to blot out our transgressions if we are unwilling to blot out the transgressions of those who have offended us. Lord we need your help to ensure that these two conditions are met so that we can be forgiven. I often think about how we behave towards those who have done us wrong. At times we pass the persons at church and don’t even say hello to them. If they are coming towards us we try to move in another direction. We do everything to avoid making eye contact or speaking with those who have wronged us. When we go to heaven and we see this individual, are we going to continue this same action? The scripture is very clear that only those who have allowed God to transform their mind will make it to heaven. God will not tolerate this kind of self-centred attitude in Heaven. We must get rid of these attitudes before Heaven will become our home. Let us ask the Lord this morning to help us forgive those who trespass against us so that we can receive His forgiven for these unkind actions. Let us not allow arrogance and self-centredness to rob us of the gift of eternal life. I pray that we will obey God’s commands.
