Good Morning Village!! We know that we have not given a kennel - TopicsExpress

Good Morning Village!! We know that we have not given a kennel update in a couple weeks and we apologize. Here is a Kennel Update for this week: Our little Elise found her forever mom and pack on Friday. Donna Szewczak McGonagle recently and very unexpectedly lost Zoe. We know how devastated Donna, Mickey, Hannah and our Greyt Village was over this loss. Donna came out with Mary Charlotte Lyman-Gruber, with Mickey and Hannah in tow, to see if there was anyone here that seemed to fit their pack. (You know once you see how easy it is to have three, two is just too easy.) They took another female in the playroom, but the dynamics were not right. They were aloof to each other and there may have been a toy issue... So Donna asked to see Elise. Elise walked into the playroom and was skittish. She even tried to hide in the corner of the room, as she has in the past. Well, Ms. Hannah was not going to have that. She walked over to Elise, nudged her and brought her out of the corner. From that moment on Hannah was there for Elise and she walked around the playroom, tail un-tucked, and even went up to Donna. They all went for a walk together and when they returned, Elise looked comfortable with the family that she picked. She even stood at Donnas side while we talked. We are very happy for Donna, Mickey, Hannah and our little Elise!! Elise will be going home with her forever pack this weekend!! Tanner left the facility with his forever family on Saturday!! Anthony and Mary came out to the kennel last weekend with their Standard Poodle, Charlie, to find their first greyhound family member. They walked a few, but Tanner was the one that Charlie felt comfortable around. Those two came back in the playroom and followed each other around. Tanner also attached himself to the leg of their twelve year old daughter. He let them know that there was no need to look any further, he had made his mind up and they were his. Tanner officially joined the family this Saturday and now lives in Belmar, New Jersey. Way to go Tanner!! Archer went home with his forever family on Saturday!! Matt Hotz and Lauren had adopted their first greyhound, Bender, through Greyhound Angels in 2012. They decided to chip and brought a female home, but she was too interested in their cat. They waited a little while and came back to find their second child. We introduced them to Archer and it was greyt. He and Bender got a long and Archer took turns winning over Matt and Lauren in the playroom. Well, it worked!! Archer officially joined his forever family and now lives in Philadelphia, Pa. Jake, the seven month old cute as a button, you want to pinch is cheeks and breath in as much puppy breath as possible, found his forever family on Saturday. The Politsky family previously adopted Paul through Greyhound Angels in August 2013. They stopped by the kennel to drop off some sheets, towels and a gently used crate. (Sure, that is why they stopped by...) They walked into the back and asked if they could spend some time in the playroom with the puppy. Of course they can, a tired puppy is a sleepy puppy. When they were getting ready to leave, they asked if Jake was spoken for. We told them that a lot of people had asked about him, but no one had put in their application. They discussed it in the front office, a lot. In the end they decided that they were ready for a land shark in their family. Jake is going home to Palmyra, NJ, this week. Oh by the way, they went home with their gently used crate. We told them that we do not want it after Jake has used it during his training!! LOL Willie found his forever family and pack on Sunday!! We have all read about poor Grumpy and how his adopters lost him so early and very tragically. They came out on Saturday just to talk to us about what had happened. The loss was overwhelming and you could see that they missed their boy. They called us later that afternoon and said that they wanted to come over on Sunday, with their Miniature Poodles, to see if there was a greyhound to help them heal. When they came out on Sunday, we introduced them to Willie. Not only did Willie not care about the Mini Poodles scattering about, but he walked perfectly with them. We put them in the playroom and Willie just knew what to do. He practically sat in Mikes lap. Every time Mike got up, Willie followed. When Mike stood still, Willie leaned into him and looked up at him. It was almost as if Willie knew he had a job to do, to help Mike heal from the tragedy he witnessed. It didnt take long to see some relief on Mike and Reginas face. Willie has already started to heal their hearts. Willie will be joining his new family next weekend in Toms River, NJ. We pray that Willie will help them get through this difficult time. So, there it is Village. We have remained busy with the new digs and focused on our mission. It is wonderful to see so many happy hounds and families. But we could not do this without our wonderful volunteers, supporters and adopters. Thank you all for everything you do to make this all possible. Please remember that we are still trying to reach our goal for building materials. Share this status along with the link below. IT TAKES A VILLAGE!! Hug those hounds - Li
