Good Saturday Evening! A good start to the weekend was at hand - TopicsExpress

Good Saturday Evening! A good start to the weekend was at hand today… we look to finish the weekend on a good note as well. Warmer temperatures await us on Sunday and even on Monday. Overnight, temperatures not falling as much as they have in nights passed, still chilly, but not cold. Temps holding above freezing in Central and Southside Virginia; while the mountains will dip just below freezing overnight under partly cloudy skies. Sunday, the area of high pressure that has been responsible for the sunshine pushes just off the coast. Remember, the flow around high pressure is clockwise, because of its location that will develop a southerly component to our winds. With the help of the southerly winds, we look for temperatures to climb to near 60 degrees to close our weekend. Looking ahead, Monday brings another day of warm as we are out ahead of the next front. Expect to be in the low to mid 60s Monday afternoon. Monday night the next front arrives and it looks to bring moisture. Behind the front, temperatures much cooler. In fact, if the cold air can get here quick enough we could be talking about a period of mixed precipitation late Monday into the morning hours of Tuesday in the highest of elevations. Nothing significant, and still off in the future. Well continue to monitor it. Temperatures rise back closer to normal by Thursday (50s) our next rain chance after Monday will occur on Friday.
