Good Tuesday morning, folks! Must apologize for getting this - TopicsExpress

Good Tuesday morning, folks! Must apologize for getting this update out a littler later than I usually do. Not quite feeling 100% this morning. Hopefully that will change for the better through the day. =WEATHER ALERT= Gusty winds are occurring on the southeastern Avalon Peninsula. Cape Race is seeing winds of 68 km/h with gusts to 87 km/h. This area will see winds continuing to gust near 100 km/h through the morning, before finally easing a bit this afternoon. Environment Canada has issued a WIND WARNING for the Southeast Avalon. Details can be found here: dd.weather.gc.ca/bulletins/alphanumeric/20141216/WW/CWHX/10/WWCN16_CWHX_161024___00071 --------- Temperatures did indeed fall below the freezing mark across much of the Island overnight, and most areas stand a few within a few degrees of that mark this morning. Temperatures will not do a whole lot of moving this afternoon. Areas west of the Avalon Peninsula should see a mix of sun and cloud developing as the day goes on. On the Avalon, it looks to stay rather cloudy with light rain or freezing rain possible this morning. As temperature rise above the freezing point later today, the freezing rain threat should end...but the shower threat will continue into the late afternoon it seems. Be aware of locally icy spots due to the freezing rain this morning. Labrador will see temperatures topping out near -10° today with a mix of sun and cloud near the coast, while western areas deal with some light flurries. Have a great day! Cheers, Meteorologist Eddie Sheerr
