Good article from the Commanding General of Ft Benning on war and weak assumptions made in entering Iraq and Afghanistan. "What we can afford least is to define the problem of future war as we would like it to be, and by doing so introduce into our defense vulnerabilities based on self-delusion. " My hope is Army officers will make it clear to politicians we will resign in large numbers before we lead troops into another undeclared war. No matter how skilled we are or how good our troops are and technology is, without an objective clear enough to justify a declaration of war, a stalemate will result. Other than raids or special operations, it is unconstitutional for the Governing to send armies to war without a declaration. It is a violation of our oath to the Constitution to lead those forces without a declaration.
