Good day. Yep, I am a bit late. Yesterday I worked the polling place and we were busy. It is with mixed emotions that I do this. I get to see many people, I enjoy the conversations that are held, and I like that I am doing something for the community. But, it is a long day. Between opening the polls, which requires one to be at the polling place no later than 6 am till closing (7:30 pm) and the counting ballots, putting polling booths up, and other items necessary to complete the days voting, I am worn out. This morning, after dragging my sleepy butt out of bed and finalizing the check in at Board of Elections, I can almost say that 2014 elections are done for me. Thanks to Sonya Falls, Francine Hart, Darlene Campbell, Vanessa Gregory, Patricia Tingen, and Sarah Royster for all of their help in pulling this office. I also want to thank the Granville County Board of Elections for their patience with a less than organize judge (me). This morning, I thought about the calling of Jesus to come to him, especially those who are burdened and weighed down with life. John Hagee once stated that if you are not currently in a storm, wait a bit and you soon will be. Each of us at times have known the burdens of life and each of us has experienced tiredness. It is these times that may be we need to be still and rest in Christ. The scripture text I selected this day is from the Gospel of Matthew. Hope you enjoy. “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, NRSV)
