Good morning Beloit. We are showing 37ish outside. It is a bit foggy so please be careful out there. Your distance between you and the car in front of you should always be greater than a car length (not 7inches as some may think) but in the fog you should also increase that distance. Today is the anniversary of combat operations beginning in Iraq. Despite what your feelings are of the war, we would like to stand and salute those who served over there. We have several officers that did tours in Iraq and we are proud to have them here and home safe. We hope the rest of the troops return soon to their families. It is also the birthday of two famous law men. Wyatt Earp was born this date 1848. He was the kind of guy they make movies about... Lots of em. The other one is John McClain. Okay thats just a character that Bruce Willis plays, and it is Bruces birthday. John McClain was Im sure what all of us cops thought police work was going to be like. I havent yet taken back a building full of terrorists while in bare feet, but Im guessing I could now. The problem is for cops that watch that we think of the mountains of paperwork that doing that would require afterwards. They should have ended the first Die Hard showing McClain being handed a pen and 20 legal pads and being told to stop bleeding so he could get his report done. Great movies though. Here at BPD we are going to be bringing on several new officers in the coming weeks. If you see two officers in the car this is why.
