Good morning! Chris signing in at 5am with your morning update. Forecast details are as follows and all the graphics are available at mcdowellweather.org Cold morning to start out so put those kiddos in coats. Temps are in the low 30s throughout the foothills and around 30 in the mountains. The mountain areas could see some freezing fog in the mountains but I doubt it will be very thick and should not cause issues on the roads. Just give yourself and extra few min of travel. Mostly clear skies today and winds will gradually increase to ENE 5 - 15mph in the foothills and 10 - 20mph in the mountains. That could bring in a few isolated clouds this afternoon and evening. Temps drop back down below freezing tonight in all areas of the counties. ENE winds should bring a few more clouds in overnight as the upper atmosphere moistens up ahead of the next frontal system. Look for mostly cloudy skies on Tuesday with temps a few degrees higher than today. Those clouds continue to lower and thicken through the day Wednesday. Wednesday Night we could see some light showers start to develop as a wedge tries to develop. That wedge could play a very important role on Thursday. A frontal system approaches from the West and if we keep cooler and more stable air in place then we will likely just see a few gusty showers. However, if we see more sunshine and temps end up being a few degrees warmer than what I have forecast then thunderstorms would be more likely. Some of those could produce some damaging winds if they are able to develop. That cold front plows through and clears the foothills out by Friday Morning but the mountains hang onto a few more clouds through Friday afternoon before they clear out as well. I would not be surprised to see a few very isolated snow flurries Thursday Night into Friday in the high country. That front also keeps temps from warming much as we could stay in the 50s Friday and Saturday. The weekend looks like it will be in great shape as of right now. I hope everyone has a great Monday. God bless! #burkewx Chris White Chief Meteorologist Burke Weather Incorporated
