Good morning, Father God . . . As we pray through the New - TopicsExpress

Good morning, Father God . . . As we pray through the New Testament, we come to 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2:12. This second letter begins much like the first. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy write to the Thessalonian church, starting with words of thanks to God for the growing faith despite persecutions of these relatively new believers. Yes, the apostles again speak of those who oppose, including the “man of lawlessness.” Jesus will indeed return one day. In the in-between time, Christians are to watch out for deception as well as the revealing of this lawless one, “the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God” (2:3-4). Paul’s words open Christians’ eyes to the spiritual battle that rages yet today: “The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved” (2:9-10). Heavenly Father, this not only reminds me of the spiritual battle and Your ultimate victory. I’m gripped with an urgency to advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom while there is still time. I long to be used of You to proclaim the Good News to those who are perishing, that they will have yet another opportunity to love Your truth and be saved! Help me to live with eternity in mind. While I can’t wait to be awestruck upon Jesus’ return, I also want to be used of You to liberate lost souls from the enemy’s clutches! esvbible.org/2%20Thessalonians%201-2%3A12/
