Good morning PHC family! The team have been brainstorming ways to help you guys reach your health and fitness goals- whether that be cardio, strength, power muscle gain or fat loss! So we have decided to roll out our trainer tips of the week to help get you guys over the line!!! Trainer Cal talks about overcoming plateaus in strength training: Being stuck at the same level with your weight training can be extremely frustrating- not to mention demotivating! This can lead to overtraining or a training hiatus (depending on the person). Something that I found extremely useful in getting through my strength plateau was a simple change of repetition speed. Using the attached video observe the 3 subtle differences I used to get me over the line! Rep 1- 3(sec down):0 : 3 (sec up) Rep 2- 2(down): 2(pause): 2 (up) Rep 3- 3(down): 1(pause): 1 (up) These 3 different speeds will increase the time under tension in the active muscles forcing them to make adaptations (strength&size) to accommodate the change in program!
