Good morning, UK Forecast – 12th June Synoptic situation: High pressure is centred across southern England bringing fine and warm conditions to many parts of the UK. However weather fronts associated with low pressure out over the Atlantic will be moving into north-western regions today, bringing some rain with them. Today’s outlook: For much of Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles, north of the Central Belt it is a cloudy start to the day with the odd shower around, but some brighter spells are affecting eastern parts of the country. Otherwise for southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, England, including the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, along with Wales, it is a dry and fine morning with some good spells of sunshine around once any mist and low cloud clears. Across central, southern, south-western and south-eastern England, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight, East Anglia, the Midlands, eastern and north-eastern England it will be a fine day with plenty of sunshine around for much of the time. Some cloud will bubble up, but all parts will remain dry. Over Wales, northwest England, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland south of the Central Belt, it will also be a mostly fine day with sunny spells, but cloud will tend to increase from the west during the day with much of Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man turning cloudy this afternoon and a little rain may arrive across the North Coast of Northern Ireland by the evening with the odd shower also breaking out over the Southern Uplands. Over the rest of Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles, the cloud across many central and eastern regions will try to break up for a time this morning with some places seeing some sunny spells. However there will still be some large amounts of cloud around, and the cloud will tend to thicken from the west as outbreaks of rain arrive across the Western Isles and western parts of the mainland during the day. Winds will be light to moderate west/south-westerlies for many parts, perhaps touching fresh at times across north-western parts of Scotland, but they will be more variable in direction across England and Wales. Temperatures across England, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight and Wales will generally be in the range of 21°C to 23°C, but as high as 24°C or 25°C towards the London region. For the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland maximums of 17°C to 19°C are expected, whilst over Scotland we are expecting highs of 18°C to 20°C, although the Northern and Western Isles will be a touch cooler with 14°C or 15°C the high here. UV levels today will be high across many areas of England and Wales, moderate for Northern Ireland and Scotland, whilst pollen levels will be high to very high across England and Wales, high over Northern Ireland and low to moderate for Scotland, although southern Scotland may reach high levels. Have a good day, Paul
