Brighter conditions with some rather blustery showers following on behind for North Western parts of Scotland. This afternoon the cloud and rain continues its journey South East into England and Wales, the rain becoming light and patchy in nature and perhaps easing completely in places before it reaches the far South East of England. Elsewhere there will be rather a lot of cloud around although some bright or sunny spells are possible in places, especially during the morning in South Western England, Central Southern England and the South East of England. A fine afternoon is expected for Northern Ireland. Late in the afternoon it will also become brighter for Northern parts of England as the cloud and light rain moves away. It will be a breezy day for much of the UK, especially in Scotland, with gales still possible in North Western parts for a time and even severe gales for Shetland. Maximum temperatures today ranging from 10°C to 14°C in England and Wales, perhaps a little warmer in the South East of England, the East Midlands and East Anglia in any brightness. Scotland will see highs today ranging from 8°C to 11°C with the mildest of the weather in Eastern parts. Top temperatures today in Northern Ireland ranging from 10°C to 12°C TONIGHT Cloud and any residual rain will clear the South East of England throughout the first part of tonight with clearer conditions following on for much of England and Wales. More in the way of cloud in the far North of England and also Scotland. Showers will continue in the North West of Scotland throughout the night. Northern Ireland will see a mainly dry night with broken cloud in places but there is the risk of an odd shower. Remaining breezy, especially in Scotland although winds should ease a little towards the end of the night for inland areas.
