Good morning everyone! After a little taste of winter yesterday - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone! After a little taste of winter yesterday for many of us which some may have enjoyed or not a cold day is in store for us today before we rebound back towards normal for the end of the week into the weekend. Current temperatures are in the mid 20s to low 30s across the region as 1040 MB high pressure controls the Eastern Half of the country from the Central Plains. Other high pressure systems were also controlling the Western Half of the country. The calm, clear conditions and northwest flow allowed all of Delmarva to radiate quite efficiently at night and as a result, temps this morning are well-below normal, but NOT close to record levels. Lets take a look at what we can expect for the latter half of this week into next week: The strong high pressure center just east of the Central Plains will continue pushing east and weakening with time while taking a position in the southeast states early Thursday. After setting up in the Southeast for a day it moves towards the Outer Banks of North Carolina late Thursday and moves offshore by Friday. During the time that the high is in the southeast states, we will be in a south to southwesterly flow, bringing up seasonal temperatures and some more moisture. Calm weather will be dominant across Delmarva until the beginning of next week. A low pressure system pushing eastward through the Great Lakes and then northward into Canada is being forced along by strong 1040 MB high pressure building in from the West. The low brings a warm front north of Delmarva early Monday or late Sunday and its associated cold front early Tuesday with precipitation possible Monday ahead of it. In addition, a low pressure center near the Gulf of Mexico may develop and move along the cold front, potentially affecting our area Tuesday into Wednesday, but the details on that are still with low confidence and need to be watched for continuity.
