Good morning everyone Heres a question from Angie and my response... Hi, Im looking for advice...Im a PT who is waiting to apply and join the armed forces, this isnt guaranteed and may take a year if I am successful. Im currently taking a break from work having just returned from active service overseas. Now I need to plan the next 12 months. Im not keen to commit to a PT position in a gym, due to my situation. I live in a very rural area so home PT wouldnt be a guaranteed income either, but it may be the better option? If so, what do you think of all the franchise groups out there?! I understand not all require a minimum 12 month sign-up? I also think my local running club has potential for PT services. Please help Ive seen many recently - not in the gym, workout at home, your personal training and of course easy-fit! My problem is that I dont want to tie myself into anything long term as Im really not sure what Ill be doing over the next 12 months with my RAF application. Not In The Gym appears to be contract free but it feels a bit of a gamble to join any of them Hi Angie and thanks for your question First of all many of the places you are talking about are not franchises. Pro-Fit (formerly Easyfit) and Your Personal Training are definitely not. I do know however that there are at least a couple of franchises that offer home based PT in the UK The easiest for me to our answer is obviously our company - Pro-Fit. We would not take on anyone who only wants to be a PT for just a few months. This is purely our team invest so much time to develop our trainers. We are only looking for trainers who are passionate about making PT their long term career. Im sorry that we do not have an option for you. I know the owners of Your Personal Training and they are nice guys. I dont know too much about what they offer trainers and whether they offer short term contracts. In terms of the home based franchise options I dont know too much about them but heres some questions Id ask: 1. What do I get in terms of presence on your website and/or do I get my own site provided by you? 2. Do you pass on clients to me. If so how often and how many 3. What resources/systems do you provide me with to run my business 4. What training/mentoring do you offer 5. What marketing materials do you provide me with 6. What is the initial outlay and monthly % 7. What are the length of contract terms Hope this helps
