Its Friday the 7th of March 2014. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Heres your Northern Queensland weather forecast: Warning Summary: Flood warnings remain current for the following rivers; MODERATE FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BULLOO RIVER, MODERATE FLOOD WARNING FOR THE GEORGINA RIVER AND EYRE CREEK, MODERATE FLOOD WARNING FOR THE PAROO RIVER, MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BARCOO RIVER, MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE NICHOLSON RIVER, FINAL FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BELYANDO AND SUTTOR RIVERS. Weather Situation: A tropical low lies to the south of the southeast tip of Papua New Guinea, and is expected to move to the southwest over the next few days whilst slowly developing. Another low north of the Gulf of Carpentaria is expected to move towards the east-southeast while developing during the next few days. Forecasts over the weekend for the central coast and tropical northern Queensland will be highly dependent on the development and movement of these lows. A high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over southern Queensland waters. The ridge will be reinforced by a new high moving east into southeastern Australia today. A series of weak upper troughs will move across the south of the state over the next few days, maintaining the weak instability near the inland surface trough over western Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Friday: Isolated showers for eastern districts, increasing along the tropical coast during the afternoon and evening. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms about the far north of the state. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible over the southern interior. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
