Good morning my friends. You folks might not believe this, but I - TopicsExpress

Good morning my friends. You folks might not believe this, but I didn’t get up until 5:05 this morning. I told you I was tired. I don’t think I even stayed awake long enough to see the end of Antiques Road Show which went off the air at 9:00. Of course I tossed and turned during the night as usual, but 5:05…what is the world coming to? I am taking my daughter back to the doctor this morning and by the way the weatherman is talking, I might need to go get her in a boat. Al Conklin on WBTV says that we may get as much as five inches of rain before this storm system is through with us. Talking about storm systems, we need to be in prayer for those who have been caught in the path of those deadly tornadoes. Our heart goes out to the unfortunate tornado victims as we watched them on television as they tried to salvage pieces of their lives from their destroyed homes. Sometimes we get down when things aren’t going exactly the way we would like for them to be, but after seeing what has happened to these poor folks, maybe we need to turn our thoughts and prayers from our own problems to those who are in much more need than we. I have discovered some pretty wise things just by growing older. It’s kind of sad that I finally got my head together and now my body is falling apart. Have you ever had days when you feel like you’re the top dog and some days you feel like you’re the hydrant? Boy, I really have and those days seem to have been the ones that helped put my life into perspective. I’m running a couple of hours late today, so I’ll just leave you with this little tidbit of something to think about. I am from the days when we could take a car load of people to the drive-in theater for one dollar. We’d have seven or eight people crammed into the car…seat belts were not required in those days. The drive-in was a great place for a poor country boy to take his date. Hot dogs were fifteen cents, popcorn and drinks were a dime and it just cost a dollar to get into the theater. If we boys would double-date, one would furnish the car and the other one would pay for the drive-in. Double-dating may be where the idea of four-in-the-floor originated and that didn’t have anything to do with the gears, either. Getting back to seat belts, now little kids have to be strapped down in the back seats and I often wonder if that is safer. Often, the parent driving the car has to turn their heads to check on their kids in the back seat and that takes their eyes off the road and I can see where that might cause an accident, but I’m not even going to talk about the accidents in the back seat that may have been causing kids. Have a good day filled with sunshine, but just in case, I’d take my umbrella. God Bless!!
