Good morning my most valuable family. Waking up as Saturday bids us good day, we are here to see it and I say Thank You Captain of our destinies. Casa Alegre is just that as our Eliza and godson Raulito are visiting us and making our home that more alegre. Growing up in the sixties in a small town made life that much more easier without complications of road construction found everywhere today. There used to be a ditch in front of our house to catch overflowing water back then. Not a big ditch but deep enough that a good 3 feet deep of rainwater could be collected. Let me tell yall how much I loved when it rained. Once I saw the ditch full of water, Id ask permission to go out and play in the rain and the ditch. Id pull on my swimming ensemble which was a swimsuit and matching terry cloth shirt which I thought made me look like the bee knees and make my way to the ditch. Let me tell you family a ditch full of water plus a little boy equaled a whole lot of fun. Once in the water my imagination soared. I was swimming the Pacific ocean racing to the Atlantic ocean. Then that ditch would turn into the English Channel or some river found deep in the Congo where I was sure to run into Tarzan swinging overhead from vines. I would just lay there in that ditch and let my imagination soar. This is one reason I love growing up in the era I did. There was no need for X-boxes and such as for a kid growing up back then as all we needed were our imaginations and in my case a ditch full of rain water. I think its great that children of today have access to all these cool toys but I have a piece of advice for anyone who may care take it. Every once in while turn off all the electrical stuff and encourage the kids to play using their imaginations. We are living in an instantaneous society where kids dont have to think but can pull out a device to instantly entertain themselves. The world needs more creative minds that will hopefully lead to find creative solutions to the problems we face which starts with a mind that can dream. And when at all possible, mama and daddies get out there and play with your offspring. It will bring yall closer with them and create memories for them that last a lifetime. And being the weekend, its a perfect time to get out there and start making those lifetime memories. Wishing one and all a very jovial and triumphant day which it will be when you get out there and make it your day.
