Good morning my sweet family. A cool Saturday morning outside - TopicsExpress

Good morning my sweet family. A cool Saturday morning outside means the weekend has arrived alongside us and I say Thank You Glorious God our Father and Protector. Heres to everyone having some great plans for this weekend. As I was cleaning the house yesterday, I like to clean to the music of golden oldies. When I heard that old Leslie Gore song, Its My Party, I had the sweetest flashback from my childhood. My grandfather used to own a small convenience store in Pharr, Tx located close by the junior high school that many of us went to back in the day. This memory though takes place long though when I was 4 or 5. The school back then would allow students to leave campus for lunch. So just before noon time, my mother and I would walk to my grandpas store in order to help him out with the noon rush of students. The entrance to the store was a large opening and my grandpa would put a portable makeshift counter in front of the door as not to be inundated with all these junior high kids in the store. My mama and he would then stand at the counter and help get whatever the kids were buying. I especially liked this arrangement as for me not to get in the way and stay out of trouble, I would get plopped down on the store counter, to the side where I was given a bag of Lays potato chips and a can of Grapette soda. I can even remember that back then a can of soda didnt have a pop top and youd have to open the soda with a can opener. I used to love to sit atop the counter and munch on chips as what seemed like hoards of students in my eyes would come visit my grandpas store. To this day eating potato chips and drinking grape soda makes me quite happy. There are times that how I wish I could close my eyes and go back to relive some of those glorious days of childhood. But Papa God has blessed me with a remarkable memory for remembering these past events that I hold so very near and dear to my heart. I truly feel fortunate that so many of us grew up in a much more gentler time than what we are living today. My family its now time for you to gather those you love and stir up some memories to will be remembered fondly too one day in the future. Have a super duper day which it will be when you get out there, make a memory or two, but above all make it your day.
