Good morning world Thursday has arrived and so has our return to England to say that our journey back to the UK was uneventful would be a huge understatement Our United Airlines flight from Orange County on Wednesday morning went as planned with the added bonus of an early arrival at Newark Even the next leg Newark to Birmingham started off ok with an early arrival at Birmingham also promised All went well with our journey across the pond until the plane Captain announced one hour before our arrival time that due to essential engineering work at Birmingham Airport the runway was closed until 06.00hrs Our United Airlines flight UA27 would take a holding pattern until the runway reopened eventually the aircraft lost height and made its decent into Birmingham Airport the aircraft speed deceased and everyone waited in anticipation of making a smooth landing unfortunately as I was convinced we were about to land the aircraft engines went onto full power and the aircraft shot into the darkened sky gaining altitude and heading off northwards A brief message from the Captain informed us all that due to a fog bound airport runway we were now going to Scotland to wait until the fog lifted and so to Edinburgh we went and was where we stayed until 11.30hrs when we again returned to Birmingham Airport and this time landed softly 5 hours later than originally planned
