Good news: I am officially one year cancer free! (And the oncologists dont want to see me for SIX months!) Bad news: My thyroid is now officially as useful to me as my appendix. The only TSH in my system is what I had been prescribed when it started going wonky a few months back. Tests prove its TOAST. So now we get to start the fun of balancing what Nature would have been providing naturally if I hadnt had the life-saving radiation. Sigh. Worse news: The current thought is that the unidentified rash that has been playing games with my neck and left arm graft site, as well as my immune system, is radiation caused. I am now off the cortico-steroids which helped with the pain and itch but little else, and on an immune suppressive cream that doesnt help with the pain and itch (in fact may make it worse, gotta love horrible side effects) but *should* reduce the inflammation local to the rash so that it can finally heal. And maybe I will be able to wear necklaces and things that hit my neck again! (Vanity, thy name is Kristine.) Wish me luck!
