Good news for Australian womens rugby/7s today with the announcement that Kurtley Beales $45,000 donation is being paid to the Lloyd McDermott Foundation to be directed to/used for the promotion & development of female indigenous players. That is a great result despite the circumstances behind it. Lloydies do a great job as shown by the talent they are bringing through to the highest levels. The indigenous community is punching well above its weight when it comes to producing elite 7s playing women. Demographic statistics tell us that 3% of Australian population is indigenous, yet 9% of the Aussie 7s womens squad is indigenous & 16% of the gold medal winning Youth Olympics 7s team was indigenous. This is a direct reflection of the work the Lloyd McDermott Foundation does, so we know that Kurtleys cash will be put to very good use.
