Good news from Mississippi, for a change! A judge has dismissed a murder charge against woman who experienced a stillbirth when she was 36 weeks pregnant, based on cocaine use allegedly caused the stillbirth. Such prosecutions for unintentional pregnancy loss not only sacrifice women’s reproductive rights in the name of “fetal harm,” but end up harming women’s and children’s health by frightening pregnant women from seeking health care. Legal Voice authored an amicus brief supporting Ms. Gibbs.
