Good news today. First, I had been on a waiting list for a private room at Parkway Rehab and this morning I got one of the seven they have. It costs me $25 a day but well worth it with a couch and chairs, a recliner, I do not have to share a bathroom and of course it is quieter. Second, I asked if a physical therapist could visit the boat so they would understand what I have to be able to do before I go home. We did that this afternoon and she watched me getting on, walking up and down steps, getting into a bed you dont walk around, reaching for things in cabinets, getting in the shower, getting on and off a toilet seat, getting off the boat, etc. While we were there we got hit by a wave from a passing boat so the PT got a sense of how I better have good balance. Within minutes after we got back to Parkway the head of PT came to my new room and said they were definitely going to let me stay here longer. They had previously told me (after two PT sessions) that I was being discharged Oct. 4 since I was doing so well. As of now they will continue to reevaluate me and I figure Ill be here at least two more weeks for a total of three weeks. Below are pictures of me with the therapist getting off the boat on the ramp Mark designed and built. It can be raised and lowered for tide changes by adjusting the leveling jack under the platform at the end of the ramp which is normally used to level RVs. Mark still needs to add handrails to the ramp and in several places on the deck.
