Good old Insurance companies! An Australian neighbor of mine in southwest France broke her shoulder last week while sightseeing. She was taken to the hospital in Brive given scans and wrapped in a shoulder strap. Her husband called their travel insurers: Allianze, in order to delay their return flight home by ten days. They had two letters from doctors saying that my friend could not travel as scheduled and needed another scan before leaving. And what did Allinaze reply? "The French and Americans always exaggerate". According to THEIR doctor in Melbourne (who saw the report but not the scans), my friend could travel. Never mind that she cannot move her arm and was supposed to first start some light therapy.They said the most they could do was get them an empty seat between them on the plane to Melbourne. But today, the day they were forced to leave, my friend was then informed that there were no empty seats available. They began the car, train, stop in Hong Kong and then the flight to Melbourne this morning. Nice to know that one is in safe hands with Allinze!! Shame on them.
