GoodMorning From Dogpatch USA. It was only 33 when I got up but the temp has risen to 40 and we could hit 50 by this afternoon.It will be a cool night for Halloween but here on the Lane we dont have many kids trick or treating I keep a bag of candy just in case but we usually end up eating it ourselves. I dont know if you believe in lost souls or Ghost but we are surrounded by places with names like Satans Kingdom and Devils Run all with great stories about strange happenings and our farm is no exception. Devils Run is about a mile from here and just around the corner from where my Grandmother was born and when she told the story of Devils run It could scare the bejeepers out of you. Here on the lane we seem to have a lost soul of some kind and He visits often. Our dogs will start to growl and for no reason, and the smell of Cigar Smoke will fill the air. We believe he has a mate because often there is a smell of a sweet perfume at the same time. Sometimes at night we can hear the sound of drums and music we have often been woke and got up to investigate finding nothing and when we went back to bed the noise started all over again. If you think we are crazy well I have to tell you we are not the only ones. A house next store was sold to a young couple a while back and they didnt stay very long something scared the young wife and she made her husband sell the place she said there were too many strange things going on. When my children were small we lived just up the road and they can tell you there were many strange things in that old farmhouse, doors would open and close by themselves. The water in the bathroom sink would start to run and sometimes the radio in my daughters room would come on and it wasnt a clock radio. My brother who lives at the end of the Lane has been woke up to the smell of cigar smoke. So could it be a good imagination or a real lost soul I will let you be the judge but if you ever want the bejeebers scared out of you come , visit and spend the night on the Lane Way where it seems to be Halloween more often than Once a year. Thats Life down here in the valley always has been and always will be. May your spirits be friendly and may you have a happy Halloween.
