Goodbye Suleiman Bisallah? – Saleh Shehu Ashaka Writes About Journalist Killed In Bomb Blast Allow me to devote this my article to all victims of insecurity in Nigeria & pay tribute to my good friend, Suleiman Bisallah who was killed in the 26th June, 2014 Abuja bombings that left many dead and so many with seriously hurt. My cousin Usman Muazu first drew my attention to one update on Facebook. I spent most of the day in a lethargic mood, in a nightmarish state of mind that reminded me of that day, my immediate younger brother Jamilu Shehu Ashaka got killed by unknown gunmen on his way to Jos from Abuja in 2012. Suleiman Bisallah was a good journalist, a smart, simple, brilliant, ready to help, fun and extremely nice friend that I’ve since missed a lot. We had been friends for the last 10years. He taught me lots of important things, and was a reliable, fun and generous support in times of hardship. During a difficult break-up he was among the few friends who stayed by me and advised me to take a good decision about my life. He was simply wonderful; a deeply moral and peaceful person. I’m happier living here in Abuja with my family, but you are gone. Thank you for your friendship Suleiman. Fellow Nigerians, it’s time to stop blame game, let us come together united, where the consequences of insecurity are so evident and hard to cope with, even on an everyday basis. But I’m also sad that this terrible attack, with its heavy toll, seems to be largely forgotten in the rest of the World, despite being the bloodiest ever in Nigeria. Let me use this small piece to remind you it was brutal, unexpected, and it left deep scars on me and in thousands like me, possibly millions, though not outside Nigeria. All of those deaths in Emab plaza bomb blast and other victims of insecurity are important, but for me they all have a the same name, the same face, it is a very personal story with a smile, voice and flesh, with plans and numerous skills, with lots of energy and a future, so close to how I was myself that damned Day. Suleiman Bisallah, you were really an awesome human being, and I miss you a lot.
