Goodwill is dead it seems in the modern world. Yesteryear we were - TopicsExpress

Goodwill is dead it seems in the modern world. Yesteryear we were very conscious about the worth of Goodwill and we paid willingly heaps for goodwill when we purchased a business. Today there is very little regard for Goodwill. Deal Companies offering special deals for Restaurants all have an expiry date for any vouchers presented. I have so many that tell me they have forfeited vouchers because plans changed and they could not use or give them to someone else to use before they expired. I am definitely old fashioned and if someone has an Alfreds Homestead voucher and it has expired I certainly would NOT reject the voucher. I need the person to try my food and ambiance so that they can tell friends or return to enjoy again. No Alfreds Homestead Voucher can ever expire unless it is used. I value goodwill- word of mouth is a powerful weapon in relation to advertising. I recall my 1st New Years eve at Alfreds Homestead in 1987. I went around the room that was quite full of people and during the night I managed to find out what brought them to Alfreds for New years eve. I had advertised in 32 local papers around Melbourne prior to the event and I needed to know if the advertising was warranted. Would you believe I could not find one person in the full house that had seen my newspaper advert. Alfreds Homestead started in June 1970 and so by 1987 it had 17 years of Goodwill. The 1987 New Years Eve was a full house that was made possible by 17 years of word of mouth advertising.
