Goop Movie Review...12 years a Slave....a movie I told Patti and myself to be ready for immense intensity and cruel human unkindness and still I wasnt prepared enough....tough to watch in parts....in some films, like Schindlers List, it is easy to hate the Nazis and put them in a box as evil villians capable of great injustice and vile actions....the whole cloak of Nazi bs and Hitler makes them almost seem not of the human race...but 12 years a Slave puts pre civil war southerners into a much more real and thereby closer to home cruelty, as they are not in uniforms or led by one madman, as the air of slavery touches every action of every person in this movie A story of Soloman Northrup, a well educated black free man, living in New York in the 1840s with his family enjoying his life as a professional musican...he gets tricked by kidnappers and finds himself sold into bondage and taken on a slave ship down to work in the hellish existence that is pre civil war slavery on small plantations....this film is mind boggling story of mans inhumanity to man....you will experience intense emotions throughout as you follow Solomons journey into human hell on earth as he deals with all that is thrown at him with courage and fortitude....it is one of the best films I have seen this year and the acting is excellent on all fronts....no question, easiest movie review to grade this year......its an A+++....it will definitely grab some Oscars....make sure it grabs some dollars out of your pocket for a ticket and go see it....
