Gordon Food Service to sponsor Milton Habitat build: Gordon Food Service is set to boost its support of Habitat for Humanity Halton. The local business — which has donated many hours of service to Habitat’s ReStore — has committed $100,000 toward the building of one of two semi-detached homes on Bronte Street this spring. Whirlpool will help finance construction of the other home. The new partnership comes at a time of rapid expansion for Habitat Halton, which plans to build 75 affordable homes over the next five years, beginning with 16 this year. In addition to the financial donation, Gordon Food Service will have more than a dozen employees helping with the build for 15 days. Construction of the Bronte Street homes is expected to start in May.
