Gore Vidals novel Burr was the inspiration for the Aaron Burr Society. In this video Vidal mentions Burrs peoples bank and other radical initiatives but he doesnt fully articulate two important points. He mentions the treachery of Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton but doesnt mention who they represented. Burr was anti-slavery and Jeffersons fellow slave owners joined Hamiltons bankers and capitalists to destroy Burrs political career, reputation and place in history. In addition to economic populism and opposition to Hamiltons proto-capitalist policies, Burr believed in the equality of the races. Burr was also a feminist who championed the writings of Mary Wollstonecraft.
