Gospel: Pharisee and the Tax collector.. Since faith cannot be given to the proud, but is the inheritance of the humble, another parable that recommends humility and condemn pride is given in todays gospel. Pride, among all the passions is the one w/c most torments the hearts of men, Pride is contempt of God w/c is infallibly followed by contempt of neighbor. It is in this way that the Pharisee attributed to himself the merit of his good works w/c is the opposite of the tax collectors prayer. See, how much evil pride works in the human spirits...and how much God detested it...When we pray, we do not transform our prayers to an invective against our neighbor but we must pray w/ humility...
