Gossip/Controlling the tongue!!! MANY WILL DOOM THEMSELVES TO HELL BY NOT CONTROLLING THEIR TONGUE!!! WHAT COMES OUT OF ONES MOUTH IS IN ONES HEART!!! LIGHT AND DARKNESS CAN NOT COEXIST!!! Romans 1:28-32 28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. James 3 Controlling the Tongue Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. 3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.7 People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring. 1 Timothy 3:11-13 - 11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. Psalm 15:3 - Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Psalm 41:6 - They visit me as if they were my friends, but all the while they gather gossip, and when they leave, they spread it everywhere. Proverbs 11:13 - A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence. Proverbs 16:28 - A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Proverbs 17:4 Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander. Proverbs 20:19 A gossip goes around telling secrets, so don’t hang around with chatterers. Proverbs 25:10 Others may accuse you of gossip, and you will never regain your good reputation. Proverbs 25:23 As surely as a north wind brings rain, so a gossiping tongue causes anger!
