Got an interesting DVD from the public Library, Collapse. It was a narration by Michael C. Ruppert, a republican in college and now democrat, a liberal. A former LA cop, but 30-year experience as an investigative reporter. He has a little different perspective on the future. I dont like it, but cant disagree with it. Basically, he effectively champions the position that politicians are corrupt, have been lying to us and a world collapse is ahead, followed by a dramatic drop in world population when oil production slows and stops. There will come a time when there wont be enough money to buy the remaining oil, and the world economy will just collapse. An Oil economy requires support from constantly increasing production. People who cant afford to operate vehicles, heat, electricity, medicines, will just stop going to work and paralyze the world economy. He predicts individuals wont be able to survive. To survive you would need to be a member of a tribe, a social group. A key skill will be agriculture, collecting seeds that arent franken-foods, and conditioning the land to pre-oil fertilizers, naturally produced nitrogen fertilizers. He supports an ideal of all people growing there own food on any unused land near their residence, much the same as Cuba did after the revolution.
