Got back last night from St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne after seeing the Specialist Surgeon. I will be going back within the next four weeks to have open heart surgery. I have the main left artery at 80% blocked, a smaller left artery 45% blocked (both will be bypassed) and a blockage in a small right artery probably requiring a stent. ( All this and I have never been in any pain??) Have been told I will breeze through this surgery because of my ‘young’ age and my fitness. Will be out of action for six weeks after the surgery and have to take it easy for three months. After which I will be a ‘new man’ and good for at least another 15 years, (66 + 15 = 81, yup, happy with that!). Apparently this is a hereditary problem and not my love of vanilla slices.
