Got in around 5:00: pm local time Saturday, Almost had 3 heart attacks before I even got my hotel. Not a single traffic light or a stop sign, just free for all. (was tempted to put on my st Thomas traffic vest and start yelling) 2 hours later met with the 2 Bishops who have been in charge of assistance effort in Arbil and Dahok. The Church is doing an amazing job under these circumstances. I am very happy to report that many of our kids will be starting school today. Thanks to a Catholic organization, 8 schools were built with about 18 classrooms in each (900 kids per school) I did a quick visit to one of the school (will have pictures later) I also visited one of the areas that is housing 200 families. Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing kids in these conditions. To all the TEACH members, your role is more important than ever. CASA your help will also be needed to support all the other groups. Correction: I meant to say Dahok not Zakho in the video.
