Got my EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 video card. People have a lot of bad things to say about this card on forums like OCN. Theyre trashing EVGA for this release and ranting about how other cards are far superior. After using this card for a few hours already, I see these as typical internet overreactions. EVGA released a firmware update to help with the fan noise issues. After installing the new firmware and making a custom fan curve in EVGA PrecisionX 16, the card is quiet and cool at all times. At least, quieter than my old EVGA GTX 570 SC (with reference blower-style cooler) that it replaced. The temps are much better than the GTX 570 as well. Idling at 31c and load under FurMark extreme burn test maxing out at 64c. There is a bit of a coil whine like some have reported, but it only happens when the GPU is rendering things at around 1500fps and higher. The higher the frame rate, the more whine is present. Ive also read a guaranteed fix where you simply run a folding software for 1-2 days straight and the coil whine will be gone forever. Apparently many people do this, so Ill be trying it soon. So far Ive tested it with a few games, all at 2560x1440. BF4 on the highest settings with max MSAA etc runs 60-90fps at all times, only occasionally dipping to like 58fps. Assetto Corsa 1.0RC fully maxed runs at a solid 50-60fps, with very rare dips no lower than 46fps. I lowered the reflection rendering frequency from Ultra to High and it runs above 60fps at all times. Bioshock Infinite on max settings using the games benchmarking tool, average frame rate is 72fps. Dirt 3 maxed on the benchmark test pulled 100fps average with 88fps minimum. I will try with other games soon. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.
