Gotta favor to ask- If everyone out there could please keep my family and I in your prayers we would greatly appreciate it. March 2013 I had a rare spinal cord injury called Cauda Equina Syndrome. I am so blessed and fortunate because most people in my case are waist down paralyzed for life. In a nutshell I have 70% use of my right leg & 30% of my left and a whole slew of immune system and internal issues that come right along with spinal cord injuries and also some nerve damage in my arms. I cant walk so I use a wheel chair but I can also hobble around on forearm crutches as long as its under 50 feet or if my wife isnt watching. All in all we are going to do whatever we have to do to get me as well as can be for my family. After dozens of specialists all over we werent given any hope or direction except for the recommendation that I should have a bunch of electrodes, wires and other implants put in my spine and another in my stomach but that is only to control the pain and twitches and has nothing to do with my syndrome or getting me walking again. So we are holding off on that kind of stuff. There are so many new technologies and things out there but Im either too tall or too heavy and the closest thing that would work is a remote control Jerr and we all know Grady & Kim would have too much fun with that. And those types of devices would wrench my spine without my influence to stop it and could further injure me. But finally through another miracle we were introduced to the OTTOBOCK C-Braces. They are computer guided hydraulic leg braces and sensors. So in short they are Robot Braces or at least thats what Im going with. They ironically have all the benefits that other devices do but all in one and fit me in every way. Anyway over the past 9 months I did what anyone would do to try and walk again going through testing and trials and finally getting approved to wear these braces and then onto the insurance company. The last 4 months have been all about getting these things paid for by insurance. It hasnt been easy and tomorrow MONDAY August 18th is the day that we are going in front of my insurance company downtown. I have a barrage of doctors on my side and some are coming with us and I just got off the phone with one of the therapists from Ottobock and he is getting on a plane as we speak from Minnesota and flying in for this meeting. This is very important to my family and I. These braces are truly a miracle the way they assist and support me. During my trial with the braces on I didnt want to ever take them off. We would greatly appreciate all your hope and prayers for this meeting so that my insurance company agrees to pay a big portion of these braces. If they finally get approved then they cast me and begin custom making them which should take about 6-8weeks. Everybody has been asking about them so Im going to post a few pictures and videos about them.
