Gotta share this with you; Yesterday it continued to rain most of the morning here in Central Florida, so we took the opportunity to put out Parrot Popeye outside for his rain shower and boy did he Love that! After hes had enough hell let you know it, so Phyllis replaced his paper in the bottom of his large cage and changed his food and water. After about an hour Phyllis heard him raising hell so she went out to pay him some attrition ( Popeye Loves her ), and as she opened the door leading to the patio she let out a scream that was reported as far away as the Villages! I was on the love seat watching the Golf channel, and at the moment she screamed I came off the Love seat like Audie Murphy! Her hands were up like in the silent movies where the Indians were about to get her! Getting to her, her eyes were fixed on looking at Popeyes cage, I looked and OMG! inside the cage was the biggest, ugliest tree rat ( squirrel ) Id ever seen!!! It was as long as a loaf of bread, as round as a coke bottle and had the eyes of a pissed off cat! What had happened was we ( I ) had forgotten to secure his door to the cage after Phyllis gave him fresh food and water. Anyways, the creature was running back and fourth from one end of the cage to the other, standing there I remembered how many times this past winter we found holes in our patio screens and holes in his food containers we ( at first ) left on the deck. This one wasent about to get away! I lifted up the entrance door and latched it! A hearing was held, and the tree rat was found guilty of breaking and entering, attacking a family member, and resisting capture. The verdict was a free pass to squirrel heaven, the sentence was carried out on the spot, and Popeye was given 24hrs. of R&R and returned home. ( after his cage was cleaned out one more time ). Bottom line? Dont know, may-be its make sure you close your trap door to save your nuts?
