Government commenced building of Fish Processing Factory As part of NDC 2012 manifesto to invest in and enhance projects by the Landing Beach Committees, • President Mahama on Saturday 17 August 2013 cut sod for the commencement of a fish processing factory at Elmina in the Central Region. • The $7 million processing plant is expected to be completed in 12 months. • The facility will include cold storage facilities capable of accommodating 1,000 metric tons of fish and a fish feed plant to supply the poultry industry. • When completed the fish processing plant will add value to fish catch, thereby modernizing the artisanal fishing industry. • The project is funded by the Government of Ghana with support from the Indian EXIM Bank.
