Government decides that 30% of work on the BRT will be reserved - TopicsExpress

Government decides that 30% of work on the BRT will be reserved for youths and fails to implement the decision. Youths march, deliver a memo and claim that they receved a rude response which did not speak to the issues they raised. They then resort to a violent protest, which is very unfortunate. Why must it come to this at a te when we are talking of radical socio-economic transformation? Why must the youth be forced to violence to be economically empowered by the government of the people. In Gauteng, the government cancelld contracts of more than sixty small contractors two years ago and awarded those contracts to the big construction companies that had defrauded thee state during the process leading to the world cup. Are we deploying correctly. Have we reviewed the capability of those we deployed in view of our resolve to implement radical programmes? Some of these comrades have been in government for twenty years and have become accustomed to a particular working order and asking them to implement more radical programmes could b a tall. The gist of this post, we must always be able to translate our resolutions into implementable programmes and ensure that we deploy comrades with the requisite skills to oversee implementation. There is no need for a violent service delivery for the provision of water if a municipality has a budget for that particular service.
