Governor Aliyu Swears-in Nineteen New Permanent Secretaries. Nineteen Permanent Secretaries have been sworn-in in Niger State with a call on them to see their appointment as additional responsibility. Out of the nineteen, five are women, which bring the number of female Permanent Secretaries in the state to eleven. Shortly after the administration of path of office and allegiance by the Chief Magistrate Court II, Hassan Mohammed, Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, while congratulating the new Permanent Secretaries, charged them to work collectively so as to live state better than they were meeting it now. Describing as the Chief Accounting officers of their respective ministries and departments, the Governor said they were expected to live above board to ensure the success of all government programmes in their respective organizations and facilitate cordial working relationship with between the staff and commissioners to ensure the attainment of the set goals. Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu enjoined the Permanent Secretaries to remember the oath of office taken stressing that they would be held responsible for any failure in their respective ministries, departments and agencies. The Governor also called on parents to ensure that their children go to school as a long term deliberate strategy to eradicate poverty as well as close the gap, when the need arises, especially in terms of appointment like this assuring that his administration was ready to support any public servant that was interested in going for additional qualification specifically within the African region. Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi thanked the governor for finding them worthy for the appointment and assured the governor of their continued loyalty and support to government policies. A Permanent Commissioner, Malam Buhari Mohammed was also sworn-in into the State Independent Electoral Commission.
