Governor Aliyu to Ameliorate Workers Hardship after Collecting Early October Salaries for Sallah Festivities Niger State Government is making effort to assist Civil Servants to ameliorate the hardship they would face as a result of the early payment of October salaries. Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated this when he received the leadership of the Nigerian Civil Service Union, on a courtesy call, at Government House, Minna. He said the decision followed a request to that effect made by the State Council of the Nigeria Labor Congress through the Head of Service. The Governor stated that the October salary was paid early for the Civil Servants to be able buy Rams for the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah Festival, hence the need to find ways of alleviating the suffering of the Civil Servants before another salary was paid. Governor Aliyu said the October salary was not a bonus as was being speculated adding that the State Government had stopped giving workers bonus because the state was an investment company that gets profit and gives bonus to workers particularly at end of the year time. He appreciated the visit by the delegates who were in Minna for a National Delegates Conference to elect new officers that would spearhead the affair of the union for another four years. Earlier, the President of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Kiri Mohammed Shuwa commended Governor Aliyu for his leadership as the chairman of the Northern State Governor’s Forum and his contributions to the union and the organized labor in general.
