Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, issued a proclamation today - TopicsExpress

Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, issued a proclamation today declaring October as Fall is for Planting Month. Great minds think alike! Weve been planting like crazy at the Garden. Volunteers from Dominion Virginia Power & Capital One helped us put new native grasses and shrubs around the new Cherry Tree Walk and the horticulture staff is busy preparing beds for fall bulbs too. Fall is for Planting Month is an opportunity for Virginians to plant more trees and shrubs to help reduce the flow of storm water runoff. Thanks to Gov. McAuliffe, the Central Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association, the James River Association, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, the Green Industry Council, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service for partnering together to raise awareness about the importance of trees and other plants in helping keep our water clean.
