Govt to develop adequate Sports Infrastructure in District Kulgam. KULGAM, JULY 07: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI and Trainings, MS Sakina Itoo on Sunday said that Government is providing due attention to infrastructure development in every sector to augment the public utility system. She said that Social Welfare and Youth Affairs are included in the agenda of present regime to uplift the weaker sections and under privileged He said measures are underway to exploit the talent of youth to make them future ready. The Minister was addressing a huge gathering at Dhamal Hanjipora at the concluding ceremony of Itoo Memorial Tournament at Adijan, Dhamhal Hanjipora in District Kulgam. Ms Sakina said that for the purpose of promoting sports in district Kulgam, a proposal shall be mooted for establishing of Sports and Youth Hostel in district Kulgam. She said that efforts will be made to upgrade and improve the existing stadia in the district including sports stadium of Dhamal Hanjipora located on the bank of river Vaisho.She further said that Government is contemplating to set up one public park adjacent to sports stadium which shall also be developed as a picnic spot and recreational centre for the people of the DH Pora. She further said that sports is equally important like education and other sectors, which keeps the budding youth physically as well as mentally fit. Referring to the induction of young cricketer of the J&K State, Mr. Parvez Rasool in the National Team, the Minister said that we are proud of this young cricketer, who is the first player of the State who has been inducted into the National team. She said his induction in to the Indian team will definitely inspire the young budding youth of the State. She said that youth of Jammu and Kashmir State has tremendous talent who need a proper direction and platform to excel at national and international levels. She hoped that now onwards other cricketers of the state would get chances to play at national and international levels. She said that the present Government is endeavouring to equip all the stadia with latest sports facilities for convenience of the players. Referring to achievements of her constituency, Ms Sakina said new stadia’s have already that been developed at a number of places including at DH Pora, Adjan, Check-Vato, Khul-Ahmadabad etc, to provide sports facilities to them. She said there is a great network of the playgrounds in the Noor Abad Constituency and assured that areas who are still uncovered would be provided the facility of playgrounds in the near future. She said that 70 per cent of the problems of the people of her constituency have already been completed and the progress is visible on the ground. She said that there would be hardly any rural area which has not been connected with towns and cities. She said special attention has been paid on providing health care, quality education at the door steps and providing safe drinking water etc. to the people. Responding to the demands of the people for developing and expansion of the DH playground, registration of DH Cricket Board with J&K Cricket Association, and construction of Park etc. the Minister directed Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam to take up the matter of developing and properly leveling of the Cricket Stadium with ACD,Kulgam. She asked the DH Cricket Board to full fill all the formalities for registration of the DH Cricket Board with J&K Cricket Association adding that, She will take up the matter with the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Mohi-ud- Din. Later, the Minister distributed trophies among winners and runner up teams besides cash award of Rs. 10,000 to winning team and Rs. 5000 to runner up team. On the occasion, the Minister announced a grant of Rs. 10,000 for the DH Cricket Board. The winning trophy was awarded to Kosar Bal team. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Gulzar Ahmed Shabnam, In charge District Sports Officer and other senior officers of the District were present on the occasion.
