Grandmas diary Portland Ind. Fri July 11 1947...62 above - little cloudy. Went to Mrs Millers funeral, than to the beauty shop. Picked our first mess of green beans from truck garden. Sat. July 12 1947...68 above a beautiful morning - cleaned the house. We didnt go any place. Had our first mess of green beans. Sun. July 13 1947...68 above - little cloudy began to rain about 10 oclock, had a hard rain in pm - Chas came up and got Harry & I J G were there - had a good dinner - nice time. Mon. July 14 1947...70 above - beautiful day - not a cloud in the sky - done my washing. Thresa F, Mary McFadden, Mrs Buff and I went down to see Mr Joe Sauver - he died Sat. night. Tues. July 15 1947 68 above - cloudy - rainy. Done my ironing. Howard & family ( my family ) came at 10 oclock - was here all day. Went back to Adams lake in eve. Wed. July 16 1947...70 above - partly cloudy until noon - coal was put in today 6 ton ( does that sound right ) cost $67.26 - paid
