Grantham’s men’s 4th Summer team played away to a strong Newark side in their first summer game of the season. The team consisting of David Todd (Captain), John walker, Barry Priestley, Matt Street, Paul Carpenter and Simeon Cook played extremely well and they eased to a 14-4 victory. A very comfortable victory for the men’s 4th team and a great start to their season. The captain will be hoping to field the same strong team every week in order to carry on this great start. The 14&U boys played an Aegon match this weekend away to a strong Deeping side. The boys, Joe Patton, Lewis Picker, Adam Tapson and Tom Horton played some fantastic tennis in the glorious sunshine. The boys were on form as they never dropped as set in all of the matches. A great 12-0 result for the boys, won very comfortably and this will fill them with confidence as they go into their next match in a few weeks’ time Grantham’s Green team played a match this weekend against a very strong tennis buddies team. The Green team consisted of Jake Gibbons, James Peace, Heidi-Louise Roberts and Martha Patton. The first round of matches ended in a 2-2 draw so it all came down to the doubles, however in the doubles, Tennis Buddies managed to narrowly pull away as managed to win the 2nd double 5-4 (7-2), 5-4 (7.2). A very close game and the Green team played extremely well but couldn’t quite steal the match. Grantham’s 12&U team travelled to Boston who are a very strong side. The 12&U boys team consisted of Owen Shaw, Ben Harrison, Nitesh Shyam and Marco Pierbattise. The boys played with the sun beating down on them and unfortunately were beaten by the Boston side comfortably. The boys are still 2nd in the league and they will be hoping to remain in this position of the Boston side now take the lead. They will be hoping to win their next match in a few weeks’ time in order to remain second.
