Gratitude - Day 3 Ever since I can remember , I KNEW I would have 5 children.....I also knew that this was part of a plan, that I promised ( dont know whom though ) that I would have 5 children. Well, we had 4 - and even that number raised eyebrows..... #1 in mid 1971 I knew that baby number 5 was coming...... It was such a joyful secret, something I cherished - even though some of the eyebrow raisers turned into nasty commentators - my love and I were glad, and for that I am so grateful. #2 In January 1972 Katherine Elisabeth arrived ( and she had told me her name in a dream while still growing under my heart! ) I am so grateful for that youngest child of ours, and that I was able to fulfill the promise I had made. By now I have an idea whom I promised.....but that is a joyful secret. #3 There were teenage boys in our family by then - and they make excellent caregivers! Even if their baby sister has colic! You walk up and down the hall and sing all the songs your mom used to sing to you - even the Marines Hymn ( it works! ) Steven, Michael, Jim, and big sister Christine - for you I am so grateful - you gladden my heart! #4 That year I had the great fortune to meet the lady who was an inspiration and a model. The man I love supported my efforts to join a truly awe inspiring group - I, the scared German kid - found that I could listen and comfort and console - that I brought courage to mothers and helped them bring their babies to life....... I also learned how truly wonderful and enlivening it was to bring this message to schools ( on invitation ). No coercion, no graphic pictures - just love. Statistics are just numbers, but I know that in 42 years of my being active, over 100 women received my words, and close to 30 little girls have my name ( poor kids! ) - there is even a Jeannot . She went home in 1991, her work continues....Louise Summerhill I am so grateful for you! # 5 My mom went to God in 1973 - oh how I miss her! A truly valiant woman! There are times even now when I say - but, I am an Orphan now!..... The sewing machine that was almost always going - the traditions, carried on in my own home, the smells of Christmas, - her steadfastness and loyalty and devotion - Elisabeth Fiand, for you I am so grateful. More tomorrow.
