Great News! School Meals at Aldine ISDNew for the 2014-15 school year, all students in Aldine ISD will receive free breakfast and lunch. Aldine ISD qualified for the free meal program under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which provides an alternative to household applications in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. A provision of the law, the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), strives to improve access to free school meals in eligible high poverty Local Educational Agencies (LEA) and to eliminate the administrative burden of collecting household applications. Aldine ISD has been identified as an eligible district. The CEP was phased in over a period of three years in a limited number of states and will be available nationwide beginning July 1, 2014. Parents and guardians will no longer have to fill out an application for free/reduced meals. Staff members will still be required to pay for their meals.
