Great albeit quick chat with the very busy and successful Richard Marx this morning. You can say what you want about his sweet and syrupy million selling 80s-90s ballads (I wish I had some million selling 80s-90s ballads), but the high ongoing demand for his songwriting talents has been going strong for decades, everyone from Keith Urban to Luther Vandross to Kenny Loggins to Barbara Streisand has clamored to collaborate with him. And a neat career tidbit: he even recruited good friend Fee Waybill (of The Tubes), Joe Walsh and Randy Meisner to play on his debut record. Oh, and as you can see in this clip, he also toured with Ringo. Neat guy, very accomplished. Playing the Birchmere 11/3. Piece to come.
